N. Gary Van Nest
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

On October 1, 2011 Mr. Van Nest was appointed Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Van Nest is President of Sinalta Investments Ltd., an investment and management consulting company. Mr. Van Nest has over 40 years of extensive experience in the brokerage, merchant banking, and investment management businesses. He was formerly President of Wisener & Partners (now Merrill Lynch, Canada) and Triarch Corporation, Chairman of Elliot & Page Limited and President and CEO of Canadian Venture Capital Corporation, Pathfinder Financial Corporation and Landmark Global Financial Corporation.

 

Hugh M. Thomson
Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Thomson is a Chartered Accountant with 18 years experience in various public and private oil and natural gas exploration and development companies. Mr. Thomson received his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary in 1981, and his Chartered Accountant designation from the Alberta Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1986.

Mr. Thomson served as Vice President, Finance, for Hartwell Petroleums Ltd., an oil and natural gas company listed on the Alberta Stock Exchange from 1993 to 1996. From 1996 to 1999, Mr. Thomson served as Vice President, Finance, Chief Financial Officer and a Director of Dundee Petroleum Corp., an oil and natural gas company listed on the Alberta Stock Exchange. From December 1999 to 2011, Mr. Thomson was President and Chief Executive Officer and a Director of New North Resources Ltd., a private oil and natural gas exploration and development company.

 

Theodore M. Donhuysen
Director

Mr. Donhuysen has been with Petro-Reef since 1992. He served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of the Company from 1992 to 2003. From 2003 to 2008 he served as Vice-President, Exploration and Production, Chief Operating Officer and Director. In December 2008 he returned to the role of President and Chief Executive Officer upon the retirement of Joseph Werner. On October 1, 2011 Mr. Donhuysen retired as President and CEO remaining as a Director of the Company. Since 1992, he also served as President of Hi-Lite Creations Ltd., a private Alberta Corporation. From 1987 to 1992, he was Chief Executive Officer of Devnic Energy Ltd., a public Alberta Corporation and from 1982 to 1987 he was President of Devnic Resources Ltd., a private Alberta Corporation. Prior to 1982 Mr. Donhuysen 0was a Geological Consultant.

J. Paul Lawrence
Director

Mr. Lawrence was appointed Vice President Finance and CFO of Arsenal in May 2008. Mr. Lawrence has gained a wealth of experience with over 30 years in the oil and gas industry in both private and public companies in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, investor relations, tax and financial reporting. Prior to joining Arsenal, Paul served as Vice President Finance and CFO for Clearwater Energy Inc., Silverwing Energy Inc., Lexxor Energy Inc. and Quadron Resources Ltd.

Alan P. Hallman
Director

Mr. Hallman has been President of Hallman and Associates Inc. since December 1997. From 1996 to 1997, he was Executive Director, Alberta Growth Summit, Office of the Premier, Calgary, Alberta. From 1995 to 1996, he was Director of Research, Office of the Government Leader, Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. From 1993 to 1995, he served as Director of Community Relations, Office of the Premier, Calgary, Alberta.

Allan Rasmuson
Director

Mr. Rasmuson has more than 40 years of experience in the energy industry, most recently as President of Bearpaw Business Solutions Inc., a consulting firm specializing on facility design and optimization, production optimization and resource evaluation and development.  Prior to his current role, Mr. Rasmuson spent 20 years with BP Canada and prior companies in roles of increasing responsibility.  In addition to his professional credentials, Mr. Rasmuson has served as the President of the Dinosaur Research Institute, a non-profit corporation funding and directing paleontological research and education, for five years.

Peter A. Lubey
Director

Vice-President, Engineering for Buffalo Resources Corp. and its predecessor Choice Resources Inc. from 2004 to present; acted as team lead for development of gas project on new First Nations Reserve Lands; prior thereto Engineering Manager, North Business Unit, Baytex Energy Ltd.
